Our Process

Site Visit and Assessment

We walk the slab, check moisture readings with a calcium chloride test, map any cracks or high spots, and confirm what coatings or adhesives need to come off. You get a firm quote — no surprises.

Prep and Grinding

Heavy planetary grinders with 16-segment diamond tooling remove the top layer and any coatings. We step through 30, 50, and 100-grit metal-bond diamonds until the floor is flat and the aggregate is exposed to your chosen level.

Crack Repair

Active cracks get stabilised with epoxy injection; cosmetic cracks get filled with colour-matched grout or semi-rigid polyurea filler so they read as character, not damage.

Densifier Application

A lithium silicate or sodium silicate densifier is applied and allowed to react with the calcium hydroxide in the concrete. This chemically hardens the surface, reducing porosity and virtually eliminating dusting.

Progressive Honing

Resin-bond diamond pads progress through 200, 400, and 800 grit. Each pass refines scratches from the previous one. At 800 grit you get a satin finish; continuing to 1,500 or 3,000 delivers the high-gloss mirror look.

Sealer and Guard

A penetrating stain guard keeps spills from soaking in. For commercial floors we typically add a topical hardener for extra abrasion resistance. Residential gloss floors get a burnishable guard for easy re-activation later.

Final Burnish and Handoff

A high-speed burnisher brings up the final reflectivity. We photograph the finished floor, walk you through care instructions, and leave a small bottle of pH-neutral maintenance cleaner.

What is the difference between polished concrete and epoxy flooring?
Polished concrete is the slab itself — mechanically refined to a smooth, dense surface. Epoxy is a coating applied on top of the concrete. Polished floors look more natural and never peel. Epoxy coatings are thicker, can add colour flake for grip, and are great for garages and commercial kitchens where chemical resistance is the priority.
Will polished concrete be slippery when wet?
A well-specified polished concrete floor with the right sealer is not significantly more slippery than tile. We recommend adding anti-slip aggregate to the sealer topcoat in wet areas like bathrooms, commercial kitchens, and exterior patios. We will discuss the right slip-resistance rating for your space during the quote.
Can you polish over existing concrete that has tiles or carpet glue on it?
Yes. Grinding removes old adhesives, thin-set mortar, glue-down carpet, and most coatings. Some adhesives require multiple grinding passes with aggressive tooling, but there is almost no substrate we cannot prepare. We assess the condition of the slab before quoting so there are no surprises.
